The England Beach Soccer Association (EBSA) is coming to a beach near you this weekend and bringing with it the fourth round of the Nuts TV Beach Soccer Super Tour ‘08! The EBSA is pleased to announce that the Nuts TV sponsored event will be taking place in the Eastcliffe area of Bournemouth Beach (between groyns 12 and 13) on Sunday 3rd August.

The event, in association with Nuts TV - Sky Channel 207, Freeview 42 - showcases the cream of beach soccer talent as five teams compete for the title of English Beach Soccer Champions 2008. The tour also features some international games against the likes of Germany and Turkey, and we can also expect a few guest appearances from some of the best players in Europe, if not the world! Our own GC Giancovich, (England’s first ever professional beach soccer player) will be appearing at all events and is definitely worth watching, especially for his renowned overhead kicks.

This Sunday sees the matches kicking off at 11am with action running throughout the day until 6pm. Entry is free and there is more than just beach soccer to tickle your taste buds. Nuts TV is providing its own VIP area with music, refreshments and all the glitz and glamour that is associated with this upcoming sport. Entry to this VIP area will be strictly down to the say so of the Nuts TV girls who will be scouring the crowds for eligible VIP’s, that is when they aren’t providing the match interval entertainment! All rounds of the tour will be filmed by the Nuts TV Crews and the footage will be aired over the coming months in a sexy new TV Show to be broadcast on Nuts TV.

Red Bull is also supporting the Nuts TV Beach Soccer Super Tour ‘08, providing the odd can of Red Bull as well as ambient tunes and chilled out vibes in the players lounge. All this, along with participation from local beach soccer teams, free grandstand seating, crowd competitions and tons of freebies will make the Nuts TV Beach Soccer Super Tour ‘08 the event to be at this summer!

John Hawkins, Chief Executive of the England Beach Soccer Association commented, ‘This is England’s first national and televised beach soccer tour and it is great to have Nuts TV, Red Bull and Wightlink (the travel partners of the England Beach Soccer Team) on board with us . The Nuts VIP area and the Red Bull wigwam will make the event even more enticing! Beach soccer is still a relatively new sport but it’s fast-paced and carnival atmosphere means it is gathering a big following already. We are really pleased to be able to put this Tour together to bring beach soccer to the masses - we hope everyone enjoys the day!’

Notes to Editors:

Beach Soccer was originally inspired by the acrobatic football played on the beaches of Brazil, with the Official Rules created in 1992. FIFA is the worldwide governing body of beach soccer.

The game focuses on some of the most spectacular aspects of modern football: skill, agility and, above all, goals. The irregular nature of the soft-sand playing surface lends itself to an entertaining style of play, with the ball spending most of the time in the air and the players forced to improvise with moments of awesome individual flair - expect lots of overhead kicks and diving headers!

The pitch measures 28×37 metres [roughly a quarter the size of a grass pitch] which means players can shoot from virtually anywhere - and they do. There is a shot on goal every 30 seconds, and an average scoring rate of one goal every 3-4 minutes! Teams consist of up to ten players, with five on the sand at any one time. Unlimited substitutions mean the pace and flow of the game is unrelenting and in Beach Soccer there is always a winner, with the match going to ‘Golden Goal’ overtime followed by penalty kicks if the score is tied. The beach party atmosphere enjoyed by spectators is maintained during the breaks between periods, when music and dancers keep the entertainment flowing.

The England Beach Soccer Association is the FA affiliated Governing Body responsible for running all Beach Soccer in England (both amateur and professional). This includes development of the sport, running its existing leagues and cup events and all aspects of the England National Beach Soccer Team.

EBSA is responsible for organising the Nuts TV Beach Soccer Super Tour 2008, which consists of six rounds where the five top teams from the regional championship compete for the title of English Champions. The five teams compete in four events each with the top three teams going through to the grand final in Jersey.
