Team Manager Quotes - Isle of Wight round
By EBS • Aug 4th, 2008 • Category: Latest, Match Reports‘Sociedad put in two strong performances last weekend with a good work rate and tempo. It was just a shame that this was just not quite enough! The penalty misses in the sudden death shoot-outs were punished!’
Garry Newton, Team Manager, Sociedad
‘Once again I was very pleased with how we played as a team. In the first game the Knights goalie kept thwarting us - it would have been a victory to Spartans if not for him! The unexpected victory against top of the league Bees was a great game for our many following fans as we came from behind to win with a comfortable performance! And Santos were saved by the posts and crossbar or it would have been another 8-4 hammering by the Spartans there.’
Gary Funnell, Team Manager, Spartans
‘We did well against Santos scoring six and keeping a clean sheet but played poorly against the Spartans, not putting away our chances. We were back on form and enjoyed the last match of the day, hitting 10 past the Knights. We are carrying quite a few injuries now so hope a weeks rest is enough recovery time before the tour hits Bournemouth.’
Gianpaolo Giancovich, Team Manager, Bees
‘We got two victories out of three games,, which I am happy with, and we got all five players together for the first time with a good result. We are definitely going in right direction and playing a good style of football. I’m quietly confident that our current level of performance can take us to super final later this month.’
Luigui, Team Manager, Santos
‘I feel the did really this weekend. We were lucky enough o be able to call upon the playing skills of one of the guys based on the Isle of Wight who also plays for England, Jamie O’Rourke, as well as Chris Atwood; both of whom were a bonus for us. It’s just a shame we won’t have them for the rest of the tour! We fielded a couple of fresh players this weekend, including the keeper, and they all stood up well to the challenge. Ultimately I’m happy with the wins we got because it was a tiring day with three games and we picked up some injuries along the way. This year is more of a learning year for the Knights team but I’m very pleased with how the team has gelled and come on so far!’
Terry Bowes, Team Manager, Knights
